On September 2, 2013 at 6:36 P.M. The Los Angeles Times informed the city with the news of a women being ejected from a moving LAPD patrol car. The woman, Kim Nguyen, a 28 year old was arrested early on March 17 in Koreatown. Nguyen was seriously injured in this dreadful accident. Her jaw was shattered and she experienced bleeding in the brain. The woman was handcuffed during the entire incident making it difficult for her to open the door of the patrol car. Nguyen declares she does not remember falling out the vehicle. A lawsuit was filed by Armoldo Casillas, Nguyen's lawyer, stating the two officers last names and first initials.
She was arrested for the suspicion of public intoxication. Nguyen claims she and two other male friends were waiting for a designated driver to arrive. Later the officers arrested her when they witnessed Nguyen running across the street towards a late-night cafe. After the accident she was immediately taken to a hospital once the paramedics arrived. She was unconscious for most of the accident. Three surgeries had to be performed on her jaw, taking several days to recover. The two officers report, "the car had come to a stop at an intersection and Nguyen had fell out as the driver accelerated to about 10 miles per hour." The video proves that the driver did not come to a complete stop and was driving faster then the speed limit.
