Roaring 20's Fashion

The 20's were an era of sensational changes, socially and politically. People during the 1920's became extremely wealthy and many moved into the cities. During this time period, there was prohibition and celebration. The wealthy had parties and alcohol even when it was banned. Women dressed a certain way during the roaring 20's. They accessorized their clothing by color, jewelry, and handbags to create a unique and original look. Fashion designers made quick and beautiful clothing, because they had the freedom to express themselves. Since the war had ended, women dressed in colorful and exotic clothing. The dresses women wore were much lighter, because in that age designers used less fabric. Designers were inspired by the joy and cheerfulness of the people after the war ended, that they constructed dresses shorter than ever before and with brighter colors. The roaring 20's were the era of the "flapper". Women who wore their hair in a certain style and wore short dresses were described as "flapper"; those women enjoyed listening to jazz music and celebrating. Every fashion designer experimented with textures and added fur to most jackets and dresses. Stylish women would wear stocking with dresses. These stocking were embellished with bright colors or patterns to match women's dresses.

  1. The fashion in the 20s was definetly new to the eyes of many. The dresses become short than before. At times the women of this era were described as rebellious because of how they dressed and acted. It was unlike anything people had seen before. It was an interesting time for fashion. This blog was great. Good job!

  2. From dresses, to accessories, the fashion of the twenties seemed to have been affected by the end of the war and party age. Mentioning the correlation between the lighter, freer clothing and the lively mood of the twenties was wonderful. The stockings and flapper dresses can be seen in fashion today, proving that the trends from that time left a prominent impression on people. Sensational job!

  4. The Roaring 20's I think is the most interesting fashion age of all eras because of its revolutionary and bold change in clothing. The rage in vibrance and shimmer reflected the joy and happiness many felt after the end of World War I. This proves that what people wore did not simply represent physical patterns and textures, but free expression and the feelings of the public. The 20's time period has become so iconic that it is even incorporated into today's fashion trends and themed dances.
    Fantastic work Nicole!

  5. The fashion outbreak that took place in the twenties is probably the most influential and inspirational moment in the history of fashion. Thanks to Coco Chanel women took the risk to wear PANTS! Everything from hairstyles and jewelry to clothing and shoes was fashion forward. It is interesting to know that the war might have triggered this. The blog post was informative and included historical facts. Excellent job, Nicole!

  6. Nicole has done a wonderful job researching and summarizing information about the fashion of the 1920’s. Fashion was one of the main aspects that drastically changed during this era. As a female, I understand why Nicole would be interested in choosing this particular topic to write about. Fashion is quite interesting. On another point, I admire the creative title as well as the vibrant pictures inserted for demonstration.
